The mornings after only getting a couple hours are rough. I mean roughhhhhh. I usually wake up and feel like I’ve been run over by a semi truck and, unfortunately, I look like it too. It’s mornings like these when I’m extra grateful for vitamin C and all it’s wonderful benefits.
After applying, I immediately notice that my skin is plumper, brighter and overall healthier than when I first woke up. Vitamin C also has long term benefits: even skin tone, diminished fine lines, and collagen support. Collagen support is a key factor in anti aging. Once we hit 25, we lose around 2% of our collagen every year. That means between the ages of 25 and 50, we lose half of our collagen. Collagen is important because it helps with skin elasticity and firmness. Less collagen = wrinkles and sagging skin.
See why I’m obsessed with Vitamin C? Plus, it comes in a variety of products. The most beneficial product would be a vitamin C serum. My two personal favorites are Truth Serum by OLEHENRIKSEN and C-Firma by Drunk Elephant.
Truth Serum is awesome because it is made of a triple vitamin C complex AND contains collagen. It’s like a multivitamin for your face. You get brighter, firmer, healthier looking skin. Need I say more?
C-Firma is another great serum that contains pumkin ferment and pomegranate enzymes, which help to dissolve dead skin cells. This would be a wonderful option is you have sensitive skin and have a hard time using an exfoliator! This kind of works double duty.
Clinique has a great 2-step vitamin C cleanser and serum, but I personally prefer just the cleanser. I love to travel with this cleanser because the packaging is so convenient for trips. Each packet contains enough cleanser for 2 uses. Simply pour the powder into your hands, add a little water and apply to skin! This does a great job or brightening skin and getting it ready to absorb your serums!
Moisturizers are also a great way to incorporate vitamin C into your skincare routine and will help to give you that natural, lit from within glow that everyone loves! I personally love Nurture Me by OLEHENRIKSEN and Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask.
I’m obsessed with this moisturizer. I’m sure you all have noticed since this is my 3rd blog post it’s been featured in. It’s good stuff. I put this on and can see my skin glowing! I highly recommend if you have dry skin, but stay away if you are in the oilly side. There have been some mornings where I even wake up feeling a little greasy.
This lip mask has entered holy grail status for me. I don’t know what I would ever do without it. Containing vitamin C and antioxidents, it’s a great way to hydrate your lips and also make sure they’re getting their anti-aging benefits as well!
If you are in your mid twenties or older, you should definitely be using vitamin C. These are my personal favorites, but there are so many products out there that contain vitamin C. Look around, try some samples, find what works best for you. Skincare isn’t one-size fits all.
I hope this was helpful. Let me know in the comments what vitamin C products you use!
