PM Skincare Routine For Dry Skin

It’s technically Fall here in Michigan (even though is 90 as I’m writing this) and I know I need to start prepping my skin for the cold, dry winter months ahead. The tricky part is that I have acne prone skin and the products I often use can really dry me out. Like I said, tricky. Thankfully, I have cultivated a kick-ass nighttime routine that helps me manage breakouts and my dry skin! Below, are my go-to products for healing and repairing my skin while I get some Zs.

Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk

This cleanser is relatively new to me, but it is something that has become a staple. It contains sweet almond oil, grape seed oil and shea butter, making it a super hydrating cleanser that doesn’t strip my face of any natural oils once I’ve rinsed the product off. I also suffer from uneven skin tone and a lot of times my cleanser (and skincare routine in general) can aggravate my skin, making me even more red. Thankfully, this cleanser is gentle enough that it helps to soothe my skin while prepping it for the rest of the products I’ll be applying.

To use: I begin with taking my make up off ( if you haven’t yet, check out why double cleansing is an important step) and applying the cleanser to a clean, dry face. I massage it into my skin and then rinse off with cool water. This cleaner does give you the option of leaving it on and not rinsing off, which would provide you with even more hydration!

Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads

Remember the tricky part of the routine I was talking about? Well, here it is. These correction pads are great at drying out acne and helping to reduce breakouts, but it contains AHAs, BHAs and a lot of alcohol. Great for zits, not so great for dry skin. If my skin is relatively under control, I will only use this product once a week. If my skin is looking a little rough, I’ll use two or three times a week just to get things back to normal.  The pads stay super saturated and you can get a lot more bang for your buck if you cut the pads in half!

To use: I apply to clean, dry skin until the pad has dried. I then let the product absorb into my skin before continuing.

Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel

This is another one I only use once a week, but it is a holy grail product! It has honestly changed my skin and I’m kicking myself for not using it earlier in life. It’s a two step process that is formulated to diminish the three most common signs of aging; fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, uneven tone and texture. Like I mentioned before, I have a problem with uneven skin tone and these pads have turned that around like no product I have used before. The one downside of this product is the price, 30 pads (which they recommend you use daily) costs about $88, which is why I only use them once a week. Ya girl gotta pay for grad school. However, the product is amazing and if this is something you can swing price wise, I highly encourage you to try out this daily peel.

To use: I take the pad from Step 1 and apply to my skin in a circular motion until the pad has dried. I wait 2 minutes and continue on with Step 2. Once that has absorbed into my skin, I proceed with the rest of my routine.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

This serum helps to give me brighter, smoother and healthier looking skin, all while I sleep. Seriously, this stuff is what dreams are made of. I wake up and my skin is so glowy and hydrated. It’s amazing. It contains squalane, lavender oil and evening primrose oil, which collectively help to moisturize, soothe and repair your skin. Need I say more?

To use: I take 2-3 drops and gently press into my skin until the product has absorbed.

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream

I love this product because it is so moisturizing, but not heavy. It does double duty in my AM and PM skincare routine and it looks flawless under makeup. But, my favorite thing about this eye cream is the natural optic brighteners that help to brighten your under eyes. Adios dark circles! It also had great anti aging benefits thanks to the green tea and ginseng it contains.

To use: I take my ring finger and gently dab the product into my eye area until the product has been fully absorbed.

Ole Henriksen Nurture Me Moisturizing Crème

This is the most hydrating moisturizer I’ve ever had the pleasure of slathering on my face. It’s creamy, thick and is packed with vitamins A, B5, C and E. It’s absolutely wonderful and helps to fight off the dry, dull skin that winter often brings. It also smells like starbursts. I don’t mind the scent, but if you are sensitive to products with strong smells, you may want to stop into Sephora to get a sample before you buy the full product.

To use: I take a small amount and coat my skin until the product has sunk in.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Unfortunately, I also have to deal with chronically dry lips. Every night I would apply a lip balm, and every morning I would wake up with chapped lips. No fun. Thankfully, Laneige has blessed us all with their Lip Sleeping Mask and OMG. It feels like butter on your lips and the product lasts all night, revealing soft, hydrated, plump lips by morning. A little goes a really long way and I can honestly see this tub lasting anywhere from 6-8 months. I love it so much. I was in Sephora the other day and honestly raved about this product to an associate there for about 5 minutes. This is something I will be repurchasing over and over again.

To use: I take the applicator the product comes with and scoop out a tiny amount. Applying evening over my lips.

And that does it for my PM skincare routine. I’d love to hear if you guys try any of these products or what your fav skincare products are so be sure to leave me a comment below!

Until next time,

Emily 💋
