My Current AM Skincare Routine

I’m kind of an oddball in the fact that I LOVE going through my skincare routine. There is something so therapeutic about washing my face and putting on all my various lotions and potions. It doesn’t matter how early in the morning it is, or how late I’m running, I will always do my morning skincare routine. Otherwise, my morning doesn’t feel like it’s starting off well. The products I use have changed a lot over the years, and will probably continue to change for the years to come, but for now, this is my current skincare routine:

First, I take Tata Harper’s Regenerating Cleanser and massage it into dry skin and then rinse with warm water. The cleanser gently exfoliates my skin while also refining the appearance of my pores. I really like using an exfoliating cleanser in the morning because it does a great job of prepping my skin for makeup application. My foundation goes on smoother, lasts longer and looks really natural thanks to the apricot seed powder found in the cleanser. Tata Harper is a great brand if you are looking for all natural beauty products. Tata makes all her products in small batches in her Vermont-based lab and the products are made without parabens, sulfates or phthalates. I’m 25 years old and this is the first cleanser I have repurchased (and I will continue to repurchase). Safe to say I’m a huge fan!

Once I’ve rinsed the cleanser off, I take Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 1 and put the product on a cotton round before gently wiping it across my face. This product is essentially a toner, but what I love so much about this product is that it comes in four different formulas suited for different skin types. A lot of the time, toners dry out my skin, but thankfully Lotion 1 is made specially for those of us who have dry or sensitive skin! It does a great job of helping my skin stay clear and hydrated and doesn’t have any type of a stinging sensation that some tones can have.

Now that my skin has been cleansed and prepped, I take one pump of Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma Day Serum, rub my hands together to emulsify the products and then gently push into my skin until all the serum has been absorbed. Vitamin C, and this serum especially, are great for evening out skin tone, improving skin elasticity and brightening up your complexion. This serum was big game changer for me. In my early 20’s, I basically just washed my face and put moisturizer on, until I realized that alone would not cut it and soon I would need to start prepping for *gasp* AGING!!!! I did some research and learned that vitamin C is a wonderful tool in helping your skin age gracefully and helping to maintain the firmness and even texture of your skin. Antioxidants are your friends and this serum is full of them!

Next, I apply my eye cream. I love GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream from Origins. It’s very hydrating and is great for combating puffiness and dullness, but it also helps to diminish the look of dark circles thanks to natural optic brighteners. Lately, I’ve been stepping up my eye cream game and adding Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s C+ Collagen Brighten & Firm Eye Cream to my GinZing eye cream and applying them to my under eye area, as well as the brow bone area and eyelid. (Are you noticing my vitamin C obsession yet? I love the stuff.) The addition of the second eye cream provides me with firming and anti-aging benefits. Either of these eye products are fine on their own, but together they seem to make a super product!

After my eye cream has absorbed, I take my Nurture Me Moisturizing Creme from OLEHENRICKSEN and apply a light layer to my skin. This is a very powerful moisturizer and leaves my skin feeling super soft. It contains vitamins A, B5, C and E, along with sunflower and rosehip fruit oils to moisturize the skin while also reducing redness. It does have a pretty strong fragrance, reminding me of a starburst candy.  If you don’t mind the smell, then I highly recommend this product. Even in the winter, when my skin is at its driest, this moisturizer makes my skin feel plump and hydrated.

And last, but definitely not least, I apply my sunscreen. I really like the Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 from Supergoop! I’m going to sound kinda preachy, but… IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO APPLY SUNSCREEN EVERYDAY. Seriously. There’s the obvious reason of helping to prevent skin cancer, but daily sunscreen use also helps prevent dark spots and wrinkles. Plus, it will help keep you from burning and then peeling. No one looks cute when their face is peeling, trust me. I apply this during my skincare routine and I keep some in my purse for touchups throughout the day. If I need a touchup, but don’t want to ruin my make up, I use Supergoop’s Defense Refresh Setting Mist Broad Spectrum SPF 50. It’s a really nice setting spray that controls oil and provides added protection against the sun’s harmful rays! And it smells wonderful! Protect your skin from the sun!!

There it is! My current AM skincare routine. I’ve listed a bunch of other skincare products down below that I’ve enjoyed in the past, or are similar to the products I listed above. What are some of your skincare staples? Let me know in the comment section below!
