Why Double Cleansing Needs To Be Added To Your Skincare Routine

Double cleansing has really become popular over the past few years and skincare companies have done a great job of catering to consumer’s wants and needs. I, personally, love double cleansing and have noticed a big difference in the amount of break outs that my skin goes through. Below, I’ve listed my favorite double cleansing products and why you should be adding them to your skincare lineup!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with double cleansing, it’s really as simple as it sounds. You just cleanse your face twice; once to get the make up, dirt and pollutants off your face, and the second time to get deep into your pores and clean out the grime that has built up. By cleansing twice, you are ensuring that your skin is squeaky clean and ready for the rest of your skincare products.

To start, I take Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water  and soak two cotton rounds. I hold those on my eyes for about 30 seconds to break up my eye make up. I then wipe away mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, etc. Once I’ve taken my eye makeup off, I soak another cotton round and take off the rest of my make up. Now, I bet you’re thinking “Ok Emily, how is this any different than a makeup remover?” And to be honest, at first I thought the same thing, but a makeup remover doesn’t always remove all your makeup. Sometimes, it takes a good portion away and leaves residue of makeup and dirt after swirling it around your skin. Then, when it’s time to cleanse your face, a good portion of your cleanser is working on removing what the makeup remover left behind. Not cool.

A big bonus that comes along with how popular double cleansing has become, is how many product there are on the market. There are oils (I like Tatcha Pure One Step Cleansing Camellia Oil and boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil), balms (CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm and Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm), and micellar waters (Dior Hydra Life Micellar Water No Rinse Cleanser). Basically there is something out there for every skincare concern and preference. The items I listed above are my personal favorite double cleansing products. Once I’ve cleansed my face the first time, I take my regular cleanser, wash again and continue on with my skincare regimen. Easy peasy!!

I hope this helps! I really have enjoyed adding the double cleansing step into my routine and my skin has sure being reacting kindly! Let me know down below if ya’ll double cleanse and what your favorite products are!
